Phew!

We're tired from another weekend camping adventure.  Plenty of stories coming soon, after a much needed rest...

Construction Zone

Big day at the playground the other day.  The wood chip supply was low, so in rolled our morning activity.

William was delighted with the construction vehicles.  He's an inward kind of guy, though, and so he showed his enthusiasm by parking himself waaay far away from the action and sat contently with a big smile plastered to his face.

Little by little he made his way closer to the action.

He finally made it to the edge of the playground.  A kind, older maintenance man was spraying down the new wood chips with a hose.  And seeing how it was close to 100 degrees (yuck), he was kind enough to spray William down, too.  It was fun to see them both chuckle as William got a bit wet.  I have no idea what William's vocation will be in life, but that sweet boy has an old soul.  I won't be surprised in the slightest if his gentle demeanor carries into a vocation of serving others, whether through the Priesthood or as a husband and a father.  William, I delight at watching you each and every day as you grow and change.  You bring so much happiness into the world, even to complete strangers.  Hold on to your childlike nature forever, and you will be so successful in this life and in the next.

New Addiction

William found a new favorite game...  it's Photo Booth on the Mac, and it makes him giggle like nothing else.  Heck, all of us were giggling.  I think Michael and I might even pull it back up tonight after the kids are in bed... there's nothing that a good laugh can't improve.

The Things They Say

Mom:  "Are you going to eat your last grape, William?"

William:  "No, ewww grape"

"Why is it ew?"

"Why, mama?"

"No, no.  You tell me.  Why is it an eww grape, William?"

"Oooh.  Pe-tuz grape fall down an den die.  Ewwwww."

Jumping in Again

I had big plans to blog all about Halloween, but I didn't get any great photos and so I've been avoiding posting anything.  Then one day turns into two, and soon I'm like all those other blogs that get left in the dust.  So, here I am, jumping in once again just to get things going.

We had a fun night with friends, yummy food, and William's first trick-or-treating experience.  We only went to one house, twice, and he really enjoyed the whole getting candy thing.  The rest of the night he would walk up to people and say "trick-or-treat!" in hopes of getting something yummy to eat.

We made little mummies to share at the party - lil' smokies with crescent roll dough wrapped around them, and mustard seeds for eyes.  I used a smear of ketchup as a base for the seeds...  it added to the gruesome look of these little treats.
